Fridge: Dometic CFX3 45 review
Review:
Dometic is a tried-and-true choice when it comes to mobile appliances. And their coolers are maybe what they are best known for in the van building community. This is a robust and energy efficient system. Only off our relatively small battery in DV mode, it runs for about 4 days. It’s removable baskets make it easy to load and unload from our home kitchen as well. The CFX3 is Dometic’s current top of the line system, and the 45L size was kind of an arbitrary choice by us. In hindsight, I think one of their larger capacities would have been nice.
Pros:
- Extremely energy efficient
- Removable storage baskets are very convenient for loading and unloading
- Tried and true system
Cons:
- The 45 size is tight for more than a couple days. (See the CFX3 55, 75, or 95)
- No separate freezer compartment. (See the CFX3 55, 75, or 95)
Overall: B+, the CFX3 55 seems to be superior for about the same size and price
Fridge Slider Tray: DFG Offroad Fridge Slide Sideways review
Link: DFG Offroad Fridge Slide Sideways for DOMETIC CFX3 35 – 45
Review:
To fit in our galley, we really wanted a sideways slider, which meant that Dometic’s own slider system was not going to work. There were a few options out there, and DFG stood out being the (apparent) most available, making tons of different sliders of all shapes, sizes, and orientations.
While the slider unit is very nice and does the job well, it was a heck of a process to get it. After a few weeks after placing my order and sending them multiple emails, I had not heard from DFG. Their phone would go straight to voicemail as well. It actually felt like I was being scammed. Eventually I messaged them on Instagram and got a response that it would be shipped in a few days, and it was late due to them not having a box to send it in. It took me pestering them via Instagram messenger multiple times for them to finally ship it out. After doing a bit of Googling, it appeared that I was far from the only one who got this runaround from DFG.
If I were to do it again, I would have either ordered from a different manufacturer or just would have worked with SergSupply to build something custom. Unfortunately, while the product is alright, I cannot recommend ordering from DFG.
Pros:
- Robust and well built
- It does what it is meant to do very well
Cons:
- DFG seems to have challenges in fulfilling orders
Overall: D+

To people who want their van the easy way. To the people who don’t want a project.
